my first escape room camp

my first escape room camp

Welcome!

We’re so excited your campers are joining us for the My First Escape Room Camp! This camp takes place in our classrooms on the second floor of the Liberty Theatre. We have three really fun days planned with three different creative drama escape room adventures!

Please read all the important details on this page to ensure a smooth and successful camp experience.

Dates: August 8-10 (Friday - Sunday)

Time: 1:00 - 3:00 PM

Location: KMT Classrooms , 1216 Duane Street

Please send campers with a nut free bag snack and we suggest a water bottle with lid. There is a water fountain available too.

Sneakers or similar shoes must be worn please. We move around a lot!

Also, please have your campers wear layers as the temperature varies. We recommend leaving special clothes for after camp because we are very active and will also be using markers and paint sticks.

We ask that wings, wands, fairy-related toys and stuffies please wait for their camper elsewhere until after camp. (spoiler alert - we make wings & wands, and we don’t want things brought in to get messed up or broken.)

Note! This is the Astoria Regatta weekend! Parking is going to be extra special difficult!

This camp falls during the Astoria Regatta weekend, and parking will be a challenge. Please plan ahead!

Friday & Sunday: Parking is limited. Please allow extra time to find a spot.

Saturday: Duane Street will be fully closed to all traffic for the Grand Land Parade starting at 12:00 Noon. Access will also be difficult on foot to the regular KMT entrance at 1216 Duane St. Instead, on Saturday only, campers & their adults will enter from 12th Street, just south of Commercial. Walk to the Liberty Theatre’s main kiosk on Commercial, then head down 12th Street (less than half a block). KMT staff will be stationed there to welcome campers. You’ll head upstairs to the back entrance of KMT (ooooh! fun new adventure!).

Exit on Saturday is planned to be as usual from the 1216 Duane Street door.

Doors and Entry Times

Friday & Sunday: Our door at 1216 Duane Street will be unlocked 10 minutes before the start of camp and 5 minutes before the end of camp.

Sunday: The Liberty side door on 12th Street will be unlocked 10 minutes before the start of camp. We plan for the exit on Sunday to be from 1216 Duane Street like normal, and that door will be unlocked 5 minutes before the end of camp.———————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————

Attendance Policy

KMT works as an ensemble. Like a sports team, every student plays a vital role. We need full participation from all campers!

Attendance is required for all days of camp except in cases of illness, emergency, or necessary appointments (such as medical).

We strongly discourage early pickups.

Early Pickup Request Form: If you know about an important upcoming appointment or conflict, please fill out the pickup form as soon as possible: https://forms.gle/vc3A2epjHmwrK1Bk8

Please use the form and do not have students, or their adults, tell the teachers and staff as notification that early pickup will be needed.

Checking In / Out

All students must be checked in using the free Amilia app. We check students out manually to ensure we know which adult/s each student departs with.

You log into the Amilia app using the same email and password you used to register your student for camp.
(Please do not create a new account as it will not be properly linked to your family.)

Before the first day of camp, if you could please have the Amilia app on your phone and logged in, we can then help show you how to scan your student in.

Health and Safety

  • No nuts or nut-containing snacks (including granola bars and peanut butter).

  • No strong scents please (perfume etc.).

  • We encourage bringing a water bottle with a top. There is a water fountain available.

  • Our space has temperature fluctuations. Layers are recommended.

  • No personal toys or stuffed animals should be brought please.

  • No animals are allowed in the space except trained service animals.

Family Agreements

To create a supportive and successful experience for all students, we ask that families follow our Family Agreements:

  • Students must be in the room by 1:05 PM. If your child is unable to enter the space that day, please take them with you and give it a try again the next day.

  • Campers are expected to participate in an age-appropriate way. If a student leaves the classroom during camp, they will not be able to return that day. This helps our staff maintain focus and safety for the group.

  • If you think it likely that your child might need to leave early, an adult should please remain onsite. We have a waiting area with wifi, games and coloring (for adults too!). If you’ve already left, we will text/call for pickup if needed.

  • Students who are not participating in camp may not remain elsewhere in the KMT space for an extended period of time, including with their guardian /adult.
