Welcome

Welcome to Kids Make Theatre! We are a year-round youth theatre education program for students ages 3.5 -18 years located in beautiful Astoria, Oregon at the vibrant, historic Liberty Theatre. We are the first theatre program of it’s kind for kids in the North Coast area. Our offerings include a mix of classes, camps, workshops, as well as sharings and performances in our state-of-the-art student-sized Lab black box theatre space. In addition to acting, improv, dance, creative drama, stage combat and many other “on-stage” skill classes, we include training in design, tech and a variety of types of theatre including puppetry and mask-making.

Kids Make Theatre (KMT) was founded in 2023 with an initial gift from Mike and Laura Brosius. The Liberty Theatre staff had a dream of creating a children’s theatre program, and Hilary Adams was hired as Program Director to bring the vision to life. In one year we have reached 328 students from 245 families and growing! Students have registered 790 times for more than 60 theatrical learning adventures. A generous supporter has made it possible for us to keep all our programs at a $5-$15 cost, and scholarships are available.

We are also deeply grateful for our community businesses who have generously helped us grow our program to make it possible for even more kids to join us! If you are interested in adding your businesses’ name to this list of supporters, please contact development@libertyastoria.org.

Transformation of space

Kids Make Theatre is located in the Paulson Pavilion, 2nd floor of the Liberty Theatre in Astoria, Oregon. This space has been many things over the almost 100 year history of the theatre, from offices, to a dance studio and meeting rooms to, now, a colorful, creative and vibrant theatrical space for kids.
