Fall ‘25

Welcome to fall ‘25 at KMT!

Additional FAQ can be found on the FAQ page on this site.

This page gives an overview of information that is good to know for students & their families joining us this fall.

We are so glad that you are a part of the KMT community & can’t wait to be making theatre with our kids & teens!

If your child is with us in the Creative Drama Club on Saturdays (ages 3.5-6, from 1:00 - 2:00), please jump over to the page created just for you.

Location:

1216 Duane St. - we are on the 2nd floor of the Liberty Theatre in downtown Astoria, OR. Our door is on Duane St.
Our KMT Classrooms & blackbox Lab theatre are the educational areas. We also have a cozy waiting area with books, games, a lego table, coloring pages & wifi, restrooms and a water fountain.

Entry Times:

Our door at 1216 Duane Street will be unlocked 10 minutes before the start of the first day of an activity and 5 minutes before the start of an activity the rest of the days.

Communication:

Text/ call us on: 1-855-KMT-CREW (1-855-568-2739)
To gain entry when doors are locked, call this number and select option “1” (one). It will connect you to our KMT cell phone. Please have patience as it may take us a few minutes to get down to you.

This number allows you to text or call us about absences and to receive updates from us like schedule changes.

You can also still reach us at: hellokmt@libertyastoria.org

Attendance Policy

KMT works as an ensemble. Like a sports team, every student plays a vital role.

Attendance is required for all days of an actvity except in cases of illness, emergency, or necessary appointments (such as medical).

Please text/call us as soon as you know a student will be absent. Right before an activity is hard for the teachers!
Text/ call us on: 1-855-KMT-CREW (1-855-568-2739)

We strongly discourage early pickups.

Early Pickup Request Form: If you know about an important upcoming appointment or conflict, please fill out the pickup form as soon as possible: https://forms.gle/vc3A2epjHmwrK1Bk8

Please use the form and do not have students, or their adults, tell the teachers and staff as notification that early pickup will be needed.

Checking In / Out

All students must be checked in using the free Amilia app. We check students out manually to ensure we know which adult/s each student departs with.

You log into the Amilia app using the same email and password you used to register your student for camp.
(Please do not create a new account as it will not be properly linked to your family.)

Before the first day of camp, if you could please have the Amilia app on your phone and logged in, we can then help show you how to scan your student in.

Self Check in/out:

Students age 9 and up can self-check-in/out only if this permission form is completed in advance: https://forms.gle/vc3A2epjHmwrK1Bk8

You only need to fill the form out one time. We keep it on file. If you need to change the permission in the future, please contact us and we will update our information.

Students self-checking in are welcome to use the Amilia app on their phone, or we can manually check them in and/or out. Whatever is preferred by the family.

Health and Safety
Please note that no animals are allowed in the space except trained service animals & our special activity-based animal visitors. This includes dogs that are not service dogs - even hypoallergenic ones.

  • This is an electronic device-free zone except for those medically required. Smart watches can stay on if they are not a distraction. All other devices need to be put into the student’s bag and kept in our coat/dragon closet during activity time.

  • Clean, sneaker-like shoes are required. Slip ons are fine as long as they will stay on and are sneaker-like on the bottoms.
No muddy shoes / boots please! Also on the “no” list - open toed shoes, boots (including rain boots = slippery on wood floors), cleats, heeled shoes, slippers, crocs etc. Students are welcome to bring shoes to change into. Also, shoes must be worn at all times.

  • No nuts or nut-containing snacks (including granola bars and peanut butter).

  • No strong scents please (perfume etc.).

  • Clothes that are comfortable and safe to move in.
Leave dangly, expensive jewelry in a safe place to put back on after class. We have a coat closet where a dragon guards the goods, but we’d prefer that expensive things are left elsewhere if possible.

  • We ask that toys and stuffies please wait for their student in the coat/dragon closet or in a safe space to reunite with their person after the activity.

We suggest:

  • Water bottle with lid (we also have a water fountain)

  • Layers of clothing; room temperatures vary

Special Workshop

Friday, October 24
4-6 PM; ages 8-18 (we are 1/2 full for this already!)

Cormie the Cormorant Fly & Dive! A special creative drama workshop with the Wildlife Center of the North Coast
For this one, we ask students please bring a nut-free snack with them.

Family Agreements

To create a supportive and successful experience for all students, we ask that families follow our Family Agreements:

  • Students must be in the room by five minutes after class has started, unless we’ve been texted/called that a student will be late. If your child is unable to successfully enter the space that day, please take them with you and give it a try again the next activity occurrence.

  • Students are expected to participate in an age-appropriate way. If a student is removed from an activity due to a violation of behavior or safety agreements, they will not be able to return that day. This helps our team maintain focus and safety for the group of students.

  • If you think it likely that your student might need to leave early, an adult should please remain onsite. We have a waiting area with wifi, games and coloring (for adults too!). If you’ve already left, we will text/call for pickup if needed.

  • Students who are not participating in an activity may not remain elsewhere in the KMT space for an extended period of time, including with their guardian /adult.

Thank you for helping us to create a safe and welcoming creative space for all students!

We look forward to seeing you soon and jumping into making theatre with your kids & teens!

Best wishes,

The KMT Team
