LOGISTICS

  • Dates: Tuesday, August 4 - Thursday, August 6 (3 days)

  • Time: 1:00 - 3:00 PM

    • Note! Astoria Regatta is August 5-8! Parking & traffic may be extra special difficult!Please plan ahead!

  • Location:‍ ‍1216 Duane Street - this is the KMT door.

    • We will unlock it approximately 10 minutes before camp starts at 12:50, and again at 2:50 for pickup.We keep it locked when activities are underway.

  • Phone: 1-855-568-2739 (1-855-KMT-CREW ) text / call - absences, late arrivals & to be let in during programming (1216 Duane St.) We keep the door locked for safety.

  • Snack: Please send campers with a nut free bag snack and we suggest a water bottle with lid. There is a water fountain available too. (We do not provide food for safety reasons. Please don’t send food to share with other campers.)

    • Please label the snack and water bottle with your child’s name. Thank you!

  • Sneakers or similar shoes with closed toes must be worn please. We move around a lot! (No bare feet, socks-only, boots etc.)

  • All students must be fully potty trained. If your child can not use a bathroom safely without adult assistance, please have an adult stay in our waiting area for the duration of the camp to support them for when the need arises. KMT Teachers can not assist with bathroom needs (we will supervise hand washing).

    • If we discover during camp a student can not independently use the restroom without assistance and an adult for them is not in the waiting room, we will call you for pickup (after a stop at the bathroom of course! :)).

  • Also, please have your campers wear layers as the temperature varies. We recommend leaving special clothes for after camp because we are very active and will also be using markers and paint sticks.

  • We ask that toys and stuffed animal friends please wait for their camper elsewhere until after camp. It helps a lot to have this conversation & separation before coming into the KMT area.

A Special Note for FAMILIES OF OUR Youngest Community Members

Trying something something new can be exciting, scary and many other feelings too! We are a drop-off program, and for some of our youngest friends this may be the first time they’ve done that as well.

Our feeling is that, with this age, a smaller, successful amount of time is much better than pushing it through to a less-happy longer period. We can then build on the positive!

This method has been very successful, including for kids who had some challenges at first and are now happily walking down our hall to class independently. Slow, steady and with a lot of love, care and support - and lots of fun and creativity - is how we roll!

We need your help to create a supportive and successful experience for our youngest kids. Here are things we need your support with:

  • Please take them to the bathroom when they first arrive - yes, even if they’ve “just gone at home.” Trust us on this. Otherwise we barely get going before we have to break. Wash hands too!

  • They need to be in the classroom by 1:05 PM. You are welcome to go in, meet the teachers, and help them get going on their craft if that is useful for your child. We ask that you then leave, no later than about 1:05 so we can get underway.

    • If this departure turns out to be too much on a day, please take them with you and we’ll try again tomorrow. As possible, we’ll give you the top of day theatrical craft we are doing so you can continue that, if it’d be fun. No requirement, just to link the experience to a safe place.

  • Campers are expected to participate in an age-appropriate way.

    • If you think your camper might have trouble maintaining this for a 2-hour camp (our classes with this age are 1 hour), then we ask that you please stay in our waiting room (it’s right next to the classroom).

    • If your child is having trouble in the room, we’ll bring them out to you. If a “see? They are right here, hug and all is good” type of solution is not enough, we’ll ask you to please leave with your camper and try again the next day. This helps our staff maintain focus and safety for the group.

      • If you’ve left, we will text/call for pickup if needed.

  • For safety, community members who are not participating in camp may not remain elsewhere in the KMT space for an extended period of time, including with their guardian /adult.

Additional information is below

  • KMT works as an ensemble. Like a sports team, every student plays a vital role. We need full participation from all campers!

    Attendance is required for all days of camp except in cases of illness, emergency, or necessary appointments (such as medical).

    We strongly discourage early pickups.

    Please use the form and do not have students, or their adults, tell the teachers and staff as notification that early pickup will be needed.

  • All students must be checked in using the free Amilia app.

    We check students out manually to ensure we know which adult/s each student departs with.

    You log into the Amilia app using the same email and password you used to register your student for camp.
    (Please do not create a new account as it will not be properly linked to your family.)

    Before the first day of camp please have the Amilia app on your phone and logged in.

    • No nuts or nut-containing snacks (including granola bars and peanut butter).

    • No strong scents please (perfume etc.).

    • We encourage bringing a water bottle with a top. Please put your child’s name on their water bottle! There is a water fountain available.

    • Our space has temperature fluctuations. It can be quite chilly or hot, depending on the weather. We do have A/C and it sometimes kicks in too much, sometimes not enough. Layers are recommended.

    • No personal toys or stuffed animals should be brought please. It helps a lot if you have this conversation and separation before entering the KMT spaces.

    • No animals are allowed in the space except trained service animals.
